I am 16 year old Junior, and I live in Portland, OR. I would really like to work in a Funeral Home when i’m older (as a career), and I’m planning on going to Worsham college of Mortuary Science after high school. Anyway, I was just poking around on the internet, and some websites said that if there is a teen looking to have a career as a mortician, then they should try to get some odd jobs in a funeral home (Booking appointments, vacuuming hearses, dusting… anything, really.) So, my question is: will many funeral homes hire a 16 year old? Most adults in my life consider me a highly mature and responsible person, with great work ethic (I’m not the type of person to show up 25 minutes late, and think it’s OK,ect.) I guess i’m just a bit anxious about calling a funeral home, and asking for a job… Even though the worst that could happen would be them saying no. So advice or knowledge from anyone with personal experience or otherwise is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I cant see any reason why they wouldn’t. Go in, talk about maybe helping out a bit and working part time, get cozy with the people there. I personally suggest not calling but going in physically and saying you’re interested.
Tell them your situation like you did to us.
