What Do You Think Of My Speech About Myself?

for speech class i have to bring an item and introduce myself. i brought a red apple….
jerry seinfeld said that “according to most studies, people’s number ONE fear is public speaking, number TWO is death.” to the average person that means that if they have to go to a funeral…. they‘d be better off in the casket than giving the eulogy. Speeches are tough. They are for me they are anyway. Because when I was little I was so extremely shy, I was what you would call a ….social phobic? I did not talk to anyone, I was the quiet girl. any time I would say anything the kids would look at me like oh my gosh she spoke……This apple…represents the color I am, for one….. in the summer, I’m fair skinned, I burn easily. Two, I turn red whenever I am embarrassed and nervous, like right now….I’m still shy as a young adult, and I have constantly made an effort to overcome it.
…but my face still gives me away sometimes.
My name is Lindsey Phillips. I plan on transferring to OU to major in dentistry. a lot of people are like ewe you want to be a dentist? And I mean, I plan on having my own practice so once I’m THE dentist, then the hygienist and stuff clean the teeth first so I don’t have to deal with the gross part. And the hours are good and pay is awesome so I’m really looking forward to it. And if you didn’t know apples are actually very good for your teeth. When you bite into one the skin is rich in natural fiber and it helps scrub your teeth and remove plaque. Fun dental fact of the day.
I eat apples a lot. I like to eat healthy. I’m a vegetarian. I’m the only veggie in my family. I turned to vegetarianism when I was 18. I’m 19, so it’s been about a year and 4 months. My parents are extremely strict, another aspect about my life, and controlling…I’m sure we’ve all been there one way or another. But they tried to control what I ate like they would force me to eat chicken and stuff and I just don’t like the taste or texture of meat, I never have. I don’t mind others eating it. The only time I can remember that I actually wanted to eat meat was because of the dreaded McDonalds and their chicken nuggets with those little beanie baby toys… and I had to have them all! So when I turned 18 I was like parents, I’m an adult now and I’ll eat what I want. And my mom would say things like “no, your living in my house, and your going to have to do what I say”. she is a nurse practitioner so she doesn’t believe I get enough iron. It was just a constant battle for like an ENTIRE week and finally I was just like your going to have to force feed me I guess because I’m not eating that. And…I won!
Don’t let your parents tell you what to do….Thank You.
