I don’t think it’s possible to sink any lower then Phelps who plans on protesting at the little girls funeral. Phelps likes to protest against military and gay funerals and has been doing it for along time. Not much has been done to stop him. All the sudden Democrat leaders are frantically fighting to change the law in a day on this to keep them away. Apparently they didn’t care as much when it was a member of are military that gave his life! But the Democrat ACLU has already filed a lawsuit against the Democrat lawmakers . How typical! Mr. Phelps if you or any of your cowardly members are reading this if you ever come to Colorado to protest a funeral me and my biker friends will come down to meet you. Only we aren’t going to just rev are engines so people cant hear you. I have something a little different in mind for a slime ball like you!

no, and ACLU isnt part of the dems, it has it own odd agenda
Don’t worry about those lowlifes. Their whole intent is to bother people They are living, breathing trolls. Other people will show up in much larger numbers and stand in front of those morons so that the family will not see them. Hopefully there will be nothing more on the TV about them -ever.
Phelps is scum, but yes it should be allowed.
All the good people of Tuscon should show up and shame these ***holes for what they are.
Let them preach their stupidity and hate, and preach it right back to them.
Let them crawl back to their hole in shame!
I don’t think they should be able to. They represent the ugly side of free speech. The ACLU has nothing to do with the democrats. They fight for the rights of all americans, even the ones we disagree with.
No, h3ll no.
Phelps has a goal. He has an agenda. His agenda is to destroy free speech. He plans to push the envelope until someone passes a law to limit or deny free speech. That is why he pickets funerals and says every kind of hateful rhetoric he can come up with. Phelps doesn’t care the tiniest bit about God or the Bible. He is an ex-lawyer (disbarred) who hates the Constitution.
If we decide to end his protest and arrest him for exercising free speech. He will be a very happy man. That is his life’s dream. Even if we killed him he would die happy because he would know he murdered the Constitution before we took him down. The only way to beat Fred Phelps is to refuse to play his game. Ignore him and he gnashes his teeth in misery. That is the one thing he cannot abide and the best thing we can do to him.
Ignore him, hard as it is and let him live out his days as an insignificant little worm that we don’t even care enough about to crush.
All those Westboro folks should have been thrown into a hole and buried alive.
One can not yell “Fire!” in a crowd, and I’d like to see “no protests at funerals” added to the exceptions to free speech. More important at that time is that the grieving should be able to grieve.
Yes, it is completely repugnant that someone would act stupid at a funeral. As an exercise of free speech, however repulsive you and I may find it, not much can be done beyond taking steps to ensure the funeral party equal exercise of their speech and religious rights. Where can you draw the line and on what basis? You know how politicians are. The moment you start tampering with free expression, there’s no end to it and we have to fight for our liberties all over again.
Call your local veterans groups – they’ll turn out to help you counter Phelps and his little band of fanatics, and bring along the Patriot Guard and Legion Riders to boot.
Alex is right.
Last I heard a big group of people with 8-10 foot angel wings are going to stand in front of them and block them from the mourners. If you live anywhere near tuscon then they need volunteers to make these wings. There is a facebook page to sign up for it so if you can help in any way then please do.
Also, why do these wack jobs go and shoot inocent people? Why don’t they go shoot these idiot phelps people?
NO….BUT it is constitutional….this nut deserves all the distain he recieves
No. Never.
No. Families pay for burials and the costs associated with them and it should be up to them to decide who may attend and who may not. When they publish burial notices they should be able to state family/friends/acquaintances welcome, demonstrators stay away. Why demonstrators think they have all the rights just defeats me.
