No.Clean the wound with soap and water and bandage it.Then take her to the doctor or emergency room depending on how serious the wound.they will look at to see if she needs stitches and give her a Tetanus shot if she hasn’t had one in the past five years.

LLW – Although I planned my funeral many years ago, I don’t care for the plans to be put into action for many years. If you have been worried about your friend possibly getting tetanus from a rust metal cut in some hidden closet, the immediately STOP WORRYING. tETANUS IS USUALLY CAUSED not by any rust but rather by old bacterial spores of Clostridium tetani which can live many years in the soil where rusty nails are sometimes stepped on and cause a dirty, deep, infected puncture wound. Current medical practice calls for a booster immunization with tetanus toxoid every 8 years, but if you got a puncture wound with soil, you could even even get another tetanus shot with no harm being done. Do make sure that the cut or wound was cleaned and bandaged or band-aided with some topical antibiotic to prevent any other type of bacterial infection. Superficial cuts with metal usually heal easily if get clean and the edges of the cut are held together for a couple of days. If any pus-like yellow material forms, then see your doctor.

CDC (center for disease control) recommends tetanus shot every 10 years. However most adults don’t remember the last tetanus shot they receive so a questionable injury should be looked at. ER’s are a busy place. Usually a quick care center can service this type of injury without a problem.
