My dad was diagnosed with metastasis liver cancer which doctors couldn’t find the origin of the cancer, but by now cancer is spread all over his body.
He is in the hospital, lost a lot of weight, he is being fed by tubes. His stomach is swollen and they are putting more and more painkillers.
I live in the US and he is in Europe. I’m trying to plan my trip but with work I can’t spend more than a month away. I would like to go when he is near to the end so I get to see him alive and then stay there for his funeral as well. I would like to find out if anybody was in this situation and can help.
When I talk to him over the phone he sounds sleepy and tired. Lost a lot of weight, doesn’t tolerate regular food and his belly keep getting bigger since December 31st 2011. I’ve tried to read as much as I could online but it seems I can’t find an answer.
He is not really yellow thought, more white-ish than yellow.

I would go now. It is impossible for anyone to say how near your dad is to the end, but its best to see him whilst he is still capable of getting pleasure from your visit. Better to do that and miss the funeral. I hate to say this, but sometimes as people approach the end with cancer it affects teh brain. Don’t leave it too late – go now.
