So here’s the deal. My husband became unemployed in December, and started receiving UC benefits. Now he gets 479 a month, paying 220 in rent, 80 in child support for his eldest and we just got notified that his (temporary) medicaid has been cancelled. Only thing is, he had multiple blood clots in his lungs in Dec 08 and has been on bloodthinners since. It’s lifesustaining medication, and when they tried to wean him off of it last time, he couldn’t even walk up the steps to get into our apartment, let alone do daily tasks. His old doctor retired and his appointment with our new family physician isn’t until 2 weeks after the insurance expires, and they aren’t open yet to try and fit him in ahead of time. Of course, his medication needs refilled and the doctor won’t do it until he is seen and has the bloodwork done. What can we do? No way we’re going to find insurance to cover him for less than the 20 dollars we can scrape together after our bills are paid. I really don’t want to be planning a funeral.

emigrate!
keep applying for it. they most likely will send an reverse action to keep it open. Also apply for some disability through your social security office. That will help you keep it in place. If he cant work then you should be getting it. Call your social worker as well
If there will not be enough money left after paying all your bills, then do not pay all your bills. Instead, use your money to pay a doctor to see him.
By the way, where do you live that rent is only $220 per month?
I think he should try to get SSI. That cannot be garnished for child support. He should also apply for permanent disability through Social Security, SSDI. I assume you are out of work also? Since he is disabled he should be able to get Medicaid again. Try calling his case worker. You cant find cheap insurance, only expensive state high risk pool insurance you cant afford. You will have to become a clinic patient at a county or city out patient clinic. Some of them are inside hospitals.
Look at this list of free and lost cost clinics. Google free clinics in your town.http://www.hrsa.gov/gethealthcare/afford…
