Dear Office of Financial Aid,
My name is M***** M****** and I am writing to appeal my reinstatement for financial aid. During the fall semester, on October 24, 2010, my Grandfather passed away. After this happened my mom flew immediately to Poland for the funeral service. With the loss of both grandparents who raised me in Poland for 13 years of my life it was an extremely painful time for my family, and me especially after my Grandmother passed away in April of 2010. In the meantime I also had problems with my car, which gave me trouble with getting to school. After realizing that I no longer can keep up with my classes I spoke to my instructors and took a W grade for the classes in order to avoid a failing grade. During the spring semester I did not attend Triton College because my family kept on struggling with paying all the bills on time, so I had to work more hours to help out my parents pay those bills. I started to work at O’Hare International Airport last year and now I represent two airlines. I really love my job and I most definitely am planning on having a career in the airline industry, but all that is impossible without education.
I do realize that I neglected my studies and I would like another chance to do better in them. I have compiled a list of steps I need to take in order to be successful in school:
1. I will reduce the hours at work in order to concentrate on my education.
2. I will obtain a tutor for my most difficult classes by becoming familiar with the tutoring center on campus.
3. I will talk to each of my instructors personally to find out how I can do well in their classes.
4. I will manage my time wisely so that I can balance my family and studies together.
5. I will attend all of my classes to take advantage of what they have to offer.
This upcoming semester I am confident that I will be successful. With all sincerity I’m asking that I am given another opportunity and I am not denied financial assistance. I will not be able to finish school without the help of financial aid. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I’m just going to judge this on content, YOU will need to go back in and fix your spelling and a grammatical errors.
What I’m most concern with is you did not address your emotional state. You talked about how you’ll make changes in your job, but what about your family non financial issues? Are you stable enough to go back to school. Is the death still affecting you?
Also, you said you were going to reduce hours at work, but you previous mentioned you HAD to work to help pay your family bills. Does your parents now have stable enough income? If not, how are the bills being paid, and mor eimportantly, how are the bills going to be paid once you reduce your hours?
Lastly, why didn’t you talk to your teachers before all your problems? You said you will get a tutor, did you have problems understanding it before your family issues? If so, it just sounds like you are using your grand parents death as a scape goat.
Overall, I say you have alot of “what if’s” to fill, but nice start.
For financial aid or scholarship questions, I just tell my friends to visit http://www.BestFinancialAid.info and take a look around. Its excellent mini directory with several great sources of aid.
I wasn’t eligible for a A&M scholarship programme so I had to go through a different route to find my scholarship funding.
Gettting this will not prevent you receiving your school’s own scholarship program so give it a shot.
