A Teacher At My High School Was Murdered… Advice On Dealing With Grief?

Hello. I am currently a 15 year old girl on high school dealing with the death of a teacher. Last night, a wonderful French teacher in my school was murdered by her ex husband, who shot himself immediately after. Today all the students and teachers were told and a lot of are having trouble dealing with this. Lots of students went homs crying and there were tons of councilors to talk to. I just can’t talk about it though, I keep crying and I don’t know how to handle this… She had three young children and I can’t even imagine what they’r going through, it absolutely breaks my heart… She was the kindest, sweetest teacher I ever met. Does anyone have advice dealing with this type of situation? I don’t think I’m going to school tomorrow and I’m planning on attending the funeral. Also, do you know of anything we can do to keep her memory alive? Im trying to brainstorm ideas on what to do. I’m on yearbook so I’m going to see what I can do about having a page devoted to get. However, that just doesn’t seem like enough. She was passionate about French and teaching. Please give me any ideas, I’m sure my classmates would love to help raise money. Lastly, can you please send up some prayers? Thank you!

I am so sorry to hear this happened, that is truly terrible. I wouldn’t go to school for days if that happened. Maybe you can see if the school will turn her classroom into a memorial site instead of putting a new teacher in it.

When i was in 6th grade, this happened to me and it was horrible. Im so sorry this happened to your teacher too. At my school, they had “grief counselors” that talked to everybody who were very sad and stuff. That helped a lot, but eventually you will get over it, trust me. My school sold wristbands with her name on them. And in the yearbook, there was a page dedicated for her and another kid who had died or cancer:( On her side of the page was the song she always sang, “Good morning, good morning, it’s great to be alive!” it also had pictures of her, and some more quotes stating we will always remember her. There is a big picture in the lobby of the school of her, made by teachers and students. Sh was a great teacher, and i will never forget her. I hope this helped you, I will be praying. :)
